Stephen James Hunter's Obituary
Stephen James Hunter passed away at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah on November 3, 2022, surrounded by family. He was 37 years old.
Stephen was born June 12, 1985, to Michael and Tana Hunter in Salt Lake City, Utah. He graduated from Jordan High School in 2003. As a high school student, he enjoyed and participated in drama. He also discovered his affinity for computers and was part of the computer repair team.
Although Stephen did not like scouting or the outdoors, he joined the army after high school and moved to North Carolina. In 2005, he completed airborne school at Fort Benning.
Stephen later returned to Utah and was able to turn his affinity for computers into a successful career. He started working for Guru Labs in 2013 as a Linux consultant and instructor. He obtained further certifications as a red hat certified engineer and system administrator.
Outside of work, Stephen had many varied interests and hobbies. He always loved animals and had pets most of his life. Stephen adored and pampered his dog Ghost, a deaf pit bull that he rescued. He enjoyed traveling and took some incredible pictures of the wild animals in Africa.
Stephen also had a love of music. He attended multiple concerts and played guitar with his band, Zombiance, for a few years. Stephen enjoyed driving his muscle car and motorcycle. He also took pride in his health by clean eating, exercising, and weight lifting.
Stephen had a gift for building and maintaining close friendships throughout his life. He was in regular contact with his best friend from elementary school and his best friend from middle school. He also had solid friendships with his co-workers and personal trainer.
Stephen is survived by his father, Michael Hunter; mother, Tana Hunter; brother, Jonathan (Katie) Hunter; sister, Christina Hunter; and many extended family members. He is preceded in death by grandparents, four uncles, and one aunt.
Due to family illness the celebration of life is postponed 2 weeks. It will be held December 3, at 1 pm at at 67 Clay Park Dr, Murray, UT.
