I am sorry I was unable to attend the services. I remember working with Stephen At RR Donnelly in Spanish Fork. Working the grave yard shift always there to help diagnose printing press problems.He was famous for his microwave baked potatoes he made for the grave yard shift. Then the plant shut down and we got to work together again at Moxtek. I know he help them solve many production issues in detectors. We did not work in same department but we still was able to talk now and then. he was always telling stories of South Africa and living there.This Sunday I was thinking Stephen I was cleaning my garage and looking at my Gold-wing Motorcycle and remembering he wanted to make me a new windshield out of the left over plexiglass from making a guard for the printing press. I think I should took him up on the offer looking at it now. For the family I am sorry for your loss, he was an influence on my life. I will pay it forward.

August 27th 2020, we laid my Dad to rest in his final resting place in Lindon Cemetery. The pall bearers each wore one of their Oupies ties. Several tokens were left on the coffin.
A bolt - laid by Mike Hall in memory of the many hour spent working on cars, Steve's ability to fix anything and often, somehow he would have parts left over.
Peacock feathers - left by Auntie Maureen, sister/cousin. This reflect a story when Stev and Maureen went to the zoo and Steve wanted a peacock feather, so he jumped on the tail to get a feather, but he accidentally pulled out all of them. At the end of the funeral there were more that one feather left behind.
A marble - left by Carmen Hall, daughter, representing his teaching her how to play marbles, so she would not "loose all her marbles" at school.
A tortoise- left by Celeste Uytenbogaardt, daughter in law. This is because of the story he told of when Steve stole a tortoise from the Zoo took it home, tied it up to a stake, when he got in trouble for the tortise he took it back to the Zoo. Only to receive a letter thanking him for the donation due to the fact the zoo had recently "lost" theirs.
A letter saying "I love you Oupie" - left by Aiden Hall, Grandson, 6yrs old writen by himself.
A best Grampa in the world medal- left by Ashley Uytenbogaardt.
A coke - left by Clinton Uytenbogaardt, son in memory of the last thing steve said to him, when he was unable to eat or drink Clinton offer his a sip of coke, Steve in a barely audible voice, said "two"... two sips...

Firstly let me say how truly sorry i am at the passing of Uncle Steve. I am also heartbroken that we will not be able to attend the funeral as you all know I now reside in the United Kingdom.

I have very fond memories as a kid growing up in South Africa and the visits we shared with your family. I remember hanging on every word of your Dad and Uncle Donald telling us the stories of them growing up in Pretoria and all the mischief they got upto at the zoo.

I will always remember your Dad as a kind and loving man that always put others before himself. I also remember Uncle Steve being a very respectful of others.

Uncle Steve will be greatly missed , most of all by his loving family and my Mom . love from my Family and once again condolences Layton (Jud) de Wet.
