Sterling T Ince's Obituary
Sterling, my best friend and hubby, wonderful father to our three children, two married children and superb Papa to two grandchildren passed suddenly on June 30, 2022.
Sterling was born to William and Julia Ince in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was the youngest brother to Brent (Holly) Ince, Claudia Gooch, Roberta (Dan) Ord, Georgia (Randy) Lowe and Sydney Ince (deceased).
Sterling moved to Mobile, Alabama when he was five. After graduation he ventured back to Utah.
He joined the Salt Lake City Fire Department in 1985. Sterling served as a firefighter for 30 1/2 years. He retired in 2016. Sterling loved being a firefighter. His eyes would light up like a small child when the gongs would ring and the sirens turned on. He also worked finishing basements for many years. Sterling was very gifted with his handyman skills.
In 1987 Sterling married Jenny Hilton. The family grew with 3 children Taylor, Hayley and Carly. Sterling loved spending quality time with the kids. Trips to Disneyland, playing Mario Party and doing math homework. Sterling was so proud of his children. Our family was blessed with the addition of two more; Zee Barnes who married Taylor and Carlos Charo who married Hayley. In 2016 Murphy the Newfoundland joined our family. He was always at Sterling’s side. Together they loved trips to Lowes and Home Depot where Murphy would get a treat. Murphy was by Sterling’s side as he passed away.
Good times continued as the family moved to San Antonio, TX. With an announcement of a grandchild on the way we returned to Utah. Sterling was now a beaming Papa. Riley, his new little buddy, they would spend a day together each week, just the two of them. Little Kallie came next and wrapped Sterling around her heart.
Our Papa, Dad, Sweetheart, and Friend will be missed more than words can express. As I can hear him say to me, “Be strong, be brave, I know you can do this, you are amazing Jenny, I love you.” I will live my years keeping his memory alive and his heart in my heart. Until we see each other again. We love you Sterling.
A celebration of life will be Saturday, July 9, 2022. 10:00AM-11:30 AM with a short service at 10:15 AM. Please come dressed relaxed; shorts, flip flops, t-shirt and painted red toes if you dare!
