Steven Clark Johnson's Obituary
Steven Clark Johnson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle, neighbor, and friend, peacefully passed away on April 4, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on December 27, 1947, in Provo, Utah, to Velma Ellen Hatfield and Clark L. Johnson, Steven’s life was a testament to love, faith, and dedicated service. The Lord has now called Steven to serve in his eternal home.
Steven was a faithful priesthood holder and a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. His spiritual journey led him to serve a mission in Germany in his youth; his knowledge of the German language in his reading and speaking remained with him throughout his life. His spiritual journey also led him to teach the Gospel Doctrine Class for several years. He shared his knowledge with his beloved wife Gail, and the wonderful members of his Ward. Sunday was a joyful day for Steven.
Steven is survived by his sweet wife Gail L. Johnson; his children Anthony Johnson (Caroline), Erik Johnson, Nicholas Johnson (Amy), Joseph Johnson, and Lucas Johnson (Corinne), Sara Deitrich (deceased), and Michele Christiansen Forster (Daniel); along with many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a niece Stacey Frattarole, nephews Jared Savage and Damon Savage, who will forever cherish his warmth, love, and wisdom. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Janet, and loving aunts and uncles.
A man of deep compassion and steadfast devotion, Steven touched countless lives with his contagious smile, larger-than-life sense of humor, gentle spirit, and unwavering commitment to family, faith, community, and his wife’s many dogs. Steve was always available to cheer us up with a funny story or a meal when we were down and we will never forget his compassion and caring. His love will continue to live on.
Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we find comfort in celebrating a life well-lived and one defined by kindness and resilience and the hope of a joyous reunion on the other side. Dear Steve, you will be greatly missed and fondly remembered. Rest in peace.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at the Oquirrh 4th Ward, 5208 West Cyclamen Way, West Jordan with a viewing to begin at 10:00 am. Interment to follow at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 South Highland Drive ~ Millcreek, Utah.
