Steven Wayne Owen's Obituary
Steven Wayne Owen was born February 9, 1952, in Concordia, Cloud County, Kansas and departed this life December 25, 2025, at his home in Layton, Utah at the age of 73 years. He was the son of Harold Edward SR and Doris Glee (Thompson) Owen.
At the age of 7, 1959, Steve moved with his parents and siblings to Denver, Colorado. It was a big change for the family, but all members of the family adjusted to the new surroundings very well. He attained his education, 1 thru 3 in Denver Public Schools, 4 thru 6 in Jefferson County Schools, Middle School, 7-8 was in Northglenn, Colorado and graduated from Meritt Hutton High School in Thornton, Colorado. Steve was baptized in the Southern Baptist Church in Denver, living a Christian life, he was always ready to give a helping hand wherever needed. He was an honest, hardworking person with family, friends and those who met him.
On January 15, 1972, Steve was united in marriage to Chryl Lee Tanner in Northglenn, Colorado, which ended in divorce. To this union, two sons were born: Brian Wayne, 1981 and Kevin Lee, 1984. In March 1984, Steve was united in marriage to Margaret Louise Lavato, born September 26, in Chacon, New Mexico. Margaret died September 19, 2007, with Cancer in Ogden, Utah. On June 17, 2009, Steve married Catherine Ann Strozzi in Layton, Utah. Cathy had a son, Ronald Grant Johnson and a daughter, Florence Goldman (Tegan) They all had 16 years together as a happy and loving family. Steve started working for Union Pacific Railroad in 1970 and after studying for nine months, he became a Train Engineer. He retired in 2012 after 40 years of service. While working for the Union Pacific Railroad, he would leave his job inadvertently to serve in the Army National Guard in Colorado to honor the freedom of our country When Steve wasn't working for Union Pacific, he was on the Drag Strip Racing his 1937 Chevrolet bright yellow car named "Sundance". He loved the speed of that little car and won a few trophies before he retired from the car. Some of Steve and Cathy's happiest times were when they traveled in their pickup and camper around Colorado. Rainbow Trout always tastes better when cooked over an open fire. His brother Harold would join him when the miles weren't too far between.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents: Harold Edward SR and Doris Glee (Thompson) Owen, his son, Kevin Lee Owen, his brother, Harold Edward Owen JR, and his sister, Dora Ann (Owen) Tretter, Tinsley. Steve is survived by his wife Cathy Owen, CHILDREN: Brian Wayne (Sarah) Owen, of London England, Ronald Grant Johnson, Florence Martha (Tegan) Goldman all of Layton, Utah, SISTER: Teresa Colleen (Don) Hamilton of Grand Junction GRANDCHILD; Ethan Wayne Owen of London England
