Sue Elaine Wadsworth Noorda's Obituary
Sue Elaine Wadsworth Noorda passed away peacefully at the Intermountain Medical Center on 6 February 2024, at age 64. She was born in Bountiful, Utah on 27 April 1959. She was the youngest daughter of Grant Aveson and Reva Elaine Marx Wadsworth, to include Leslie (Michael) Wadsworth Hoxsie, Grant Mark Wadsworth, Jeffrey Nephi Wadsworth, Janet Wadsworth Handy Wilkinson, Denise Wadsworth Willey, Stephanie Wadsworth Bell, Carol Patrice Wadsworth Nelson and Joseph Robert Wadsworth. Additionally, Hyrum (Louise) Wadsworth, Torrie (Robert) Wadsworth Norris, Teresa Wadsworth Reinacher, Heber Wadsworth, Jason (Amy) Wadsworth, Wendy Wadsworth, Raquel Wadsworth Keenom, Roxanne Wadsworth Gledhill, Tiffany (Charles) Copsey, Timothy Wadsworth, James Wadsworth, Franklin Wadsworth, Christian Wadsworth and countless cousins, nieces and nephews.
She graduated from Viewmont High School in 1977. She attended the University of Utah until she served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Japan Kobe Mission from 1981-82. She earned a degree from the University of Utah in Sociology in 1984, and a Masters in Teaching and Education from Western Governors University in 2008.
She met her loving sweetheart, Jeffrey Blair Noorda on a blind date, the day she received her mission call and were later married in the Salt Lake Temple on June 3, 1983. They were blessed through marriage with eight children, Jeffrey Scott; Melissa Sue Cook, (Aaron Jeffrey, deceased); Kent Wadsworth, (Emma Cristy Dadivas); Mary Catherine; Natalie Blaire Rice (Michael Benson Rice); Chase Joseph, (Adelle Ashby); Sarah Sue Slagowski (Remington Slagowski), and Jacob Spencer.
She was a loving mother and homemaker supporting her husband as he worked as a Civil Engineer in various locations to include Hill AFB, for more than 35 years. As a family, they moved all over the world: Kadena AFB in Okinawa, Japan 1992-‘96 and 2001-’04; Ramstein AFB, Germany 2004-’06; Okinawa for a 3rd time, 2008-‘10; Lakenheath AFB, England, U.K. 2010-‘13; and a 4th time to Okinawa 2016-18. She loved the experiences overseas, but enjoyed the seasons in Utah, thus enjoyed the opportunities to come back home. They met countless friends and she loved having fellow church members everywhere she moved.
She was a full-time homemaker raising eight children. Taught seminary for many years. She was a a hard worker and loved to be busy. She was an avid seamstress, quilter, food canner, gardner, food storage enthusiast, and sour dough bread maker. She pursued her goal to teach school, teaching English to a Special Needs class at South Davis Junior High School once her children were grown up. She loved the challenge and always wanted to do more for her students. She loved being surrounded by family during family dinners, vacations to Bear Lake, the beach and children’s sporting trips across Europe.
She was an active member in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in the Young Women’s, Relief Society, and a Seminary teacher for many years. She loved studying the scriptures and enjoyed sharing what she learned or inspired her.
Sue is preceded in death by her husband, Jeffrey Blair Noorda, father, Grant Aveson Wadsworth, mother, Reva Elaine Marx Wadsworth, brother, Mark Wadsworth, and sister, Janet Wadsworth Handy Wilkinson. He is survived by all eight children, and ten grandchildren; Naomi Blaire Noorda, Aurora Blake Noorda, Dexter Sage Noorda, Cohen Jacob Cook, Conrad Jeffrey Cook, Nolan Scott Noorda, Dane Jeffrey Noorda, Cooper Ray Noorda, Ellie Brooke Rice, and Rex Jeffrey Rice.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 (noon) on Saturday, 10 February 2024, with a viewing from 10:00-11:30 A.M. at the Bountiful Tabernacle, 55 South Main Street, Bountiful, Utah. Following the funeral services, there will be a graveside service at the Bountiful Cemetery, 2224 South 200 West, Bountiful, UT.
