Sue Elaine Schenck's Obituary
Our beautiful mother, grandmother, sister and dear friend was reunited with the love of her life June 10, 2022. She left this world peacefully surrounded by her family.
Elaine was born March 7, 1946 and was the youngest child of Clyde and Emma Griffiths. She grew up in Milford, Utah and attended Utah State University and Dixie College in St. George, Utah. It was in St. George that she met and married Bill Schenck. They raised four daughters together in Layton, Utah: Lori (Steve) Martin, Michelle (Jeff Cramer, decd.) Schenck, Chris (Erich) Harvey, and Kathy (Eric) Williamson.
She retired from Hill Air Force Base as a civilian employee in the shipment and planning logistics area. It was here she met lifelong friends that will also feel her absence in this world. After retirement she spent her time as caregiver for her many grandkids. She always joked that she had her own daycare center.
Elaine was the center of her family’s world, and there was not much she wouldn’t do for them, either. There is a huge hole left behind where this wonderful lady once lived. She was kind and loving with just enough sass built in. She had so much patience for her grandkids. Everyone wanted to go to “grammas” house, that was the place. Cousins, siblings and friends all wanted to go to gramma’s house.
Every holiday the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren all got together at gramma’s. You always could find family at gramma’s swimming or hanging out. It was home away from home. Definitely an end of an era for our family. Things just wont be the same.
Her family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and support staff at Ogden Regional Medical Center, especially the Ortho, ICU and Intermediate Care units. Special thanks to her home caregivers: Chris, Jordan and Abby.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:30 July 30, 2022 at gramma’s house, 2110 Kays Creek Dr, Layton, Utah.
