Suzanne Theresa Shipley's Obituary
Suzanne Theresa Shipley, 69, passed away peacefully at her home in Washington Terrace, Utah, surrounded by her family, September 10, 2020.
Suzanne was born December 29, 1950 in Ogden, Utah to Joseph Covieo and Merrillyn Padgett. She graduated from Ogden High School in 1968 but was a true Ben Lomond Scot at heart. She married her sweetheart, Thomas Shipley “Tomless” on February 21, 1972. They spent 48 wonderful years together and raised two beautiful daughters, Trisha and Samantha.
Suzanne retired from US West after 35 years of dedicated service. One of her favorite memories was being part of the US West team that supported the 2002 Salt Lake Winter Olympics. She spent her younger years with her dad at Rainbow Lanes Bowling Alley, learning to throw a mean strike and going to concerts. She continued to bowl in a league through her early 30’s. She loved rock and roll music and scary movies. She taught her daughters that a butter knife was an essential household tool and could be used as a screwdriver, hammer or even a saw. She made the world's best Christmas fudge and enjoyed crocheting hats and blankets for her grandkids, making whatever crazy design they requested. Her other hobbies included genealogy, playing Candy Crush and making elaborate birthday cakes for her sweet granddaughter, Ty-Ty.
After retirement, she spent time traveling with her family and took trips to Colorado, Washington, Indiana, Washington DC, and California. She also enjoyed camping with her grandkids and teaching them to play poker. Her family was her whole world! She will be missed more than words can express!
Suzanne is survived by her husband Tom and her two daughters, Trisha (Rob) Clark of Roy and Samantha (Donnovan) Dolato of Sandy, four amazing grandkids, Wyle, Weston, Tyler and Alex, plus two bonus grandkids, Mitchell and Ava, her sister, Wendy Coley and her brother, Chris Padgett and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph James Covieo and Merrillyn Carman Padgett and stepfather, Charles Padgett.
We would like to extend our sincerest appreciation to Atlas Homecare and Hospice for taking such good care of our mom during her two-month battle with cancer, especially Rebecca, Korie, Sara and Haven.
A Memorial Service will be held in her honor on Saturday, October 3, 2020 from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. at Premier Funeral Home located at 5335 South 1950 West Roy, UT 84067.
