Sylvia Smith Jorgensen's Obituary
Sylvia Jorgensen
October 15, 1944 - June 14, 2022
Sylvia Smith Jorgensen passed away Tuesday, June 14th, and the world is a darker place for it. Sylvia was many things. A wife, mother, sister, friend, passionately active with not only her church, but the people in it.
She always brought a smile to your face when she walked into a room, and if she didn’t, she would do something until she made you smile. From a young age she got hired on at KLM Airlines, which took her all over the world. She was a force of nature in every way, and took every challenge with grace and a smile. For 45 years, she did that traveling with the love of her life, David (the biggest challenge of all). They travelled the world together, not as tourists, but true travelers, immersing themselves into the cultures they visited and bringing the stories home to the rest of us. Whether it was wife, mother, sister, friend, welcoming her grandkids into the world, singer, actor, standing at the bottom of a Mayan pyramid in Central America, or helping kids in Kenya, Sylvia always looked at life as an opportunity, not only to better herself, but the world as a whole. Whether it was offering treats to new friends or bringing beautiful music to the world through the Tabernacle Choir, she will be missed by more friends and family than can be counted.
She is in a brighter place, but it is truly a darker world here for her absence.
She is survived by her daughter Leslee, son Patrick (Jennifer), granddaughters Julianne and Dillen, sister Marla McKinney and three nieces: Rayett, Marlett and Lynett.
