Tahna Hadley Hipwell
1942 - 2016
Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Tahna Hadley Hipwell passed away peacefully on February 8, 2016 following a long courageous battle from complications during heart surgery. She was 73.She was born on February 24, 1942 in Ogden, Utah to Dan D. and Florence Wright Hadley. She married her childhood friend and high school sweetheart, Gary Hipwell on June 23, 1961 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
She worked for the Weber County School District for over 20 years as aTitle 1 aide. She enjoyed working with children and making a difference in their lives. She also served in many church callings for the LDS church. She had a deep love for the gospel and enjoyed sharing her testimony.
Her main passion was spending time with her family and serving others. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy. She helped raise her oldest granddaughter Ashely after her mother passed away. She looked forward to family vacations and family game night.She also enjoyed traveling and playing cards with her lifetime friends Ann and Gary Meibos.
She is survived by her loving husband Gary, her children Shayne Hipwell, Ty (Julie) Hipwellboth of West Weber,GarilynHipwell Nelson of West Haven, and Jennilyn (Shannon Christensen) Hipwell of Layton. Grandchildren: Ashley (Kyle) Halbash, Alesha (Chris) Penland,Kaycie (Tony) Sattiewhite,Janica Nelson,Logan Nelson,Jordan Hipwell,RayleeHipwell and Braydan Hipwell. Great-grandchildren: Kayden Halbash, Kayleigh Halbash, Boston Penland, Ryker Brown, and Emmett Sattiewhite. Brother: Scott W. (Carol) Hadley of West Weber,Sister Dana Hadley Deamer of St. George, Mother in-law Virginia Hipwellof West Weber,and sister-in-law Mary Ann Gibson of West Weber.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother MiloDan Hadley, sister DixieLee Hadley, daughter-in-law Shelly Jensen Hipwell, father-in-law Arnold Hipwell, and great-grandson Lincoln Ty Penland.
The family would like to thank hospice (Summit) staff, family and friends for the love, care, and support they provided through her final battle.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Friday, February 12, 2016 at the West Weber Ward Chapel located at 4100 W. 900 S. West Weber, UT. Friends may visit with family at the church Thursday, February 11, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and prior to services Friday, February 12th from 9:45 – 10:45 am. Interment at the West Weber Cemetery .
