One day when our children were young, my sister in law Rene and were making jam with mom Thelma. She left for awhile to go visit teach, and Rene and I were left in moms kitchen to finish the jam. We inadvertently caught the stove on fire! We got it out but had to call the fire dept to get rid of the smoke. When Thelma called to let us know she had a few more errands, and we told her what happened, she just laughed and said quite cheerily, “well, you girls go ahead and clean it up, and I’ll be home when it’s all done!” I’ve never forgotten that moment that she treated the incident with the same grace, good humor and dignity for which she was known! We will see you again mom! Love you💕
