Thomas Edward Shields' Obituary
Thomas Edward Shields returned to his heavenly home, unexpectedly and too early, on October 6, 2023 due to complications from a hemorrhagic stroke. Tom resided in American Fork, Utah with the love of his life, Terri Shields.
Tom was born on July 22, 1966 to Ed & Ora Shields in Provo, Utah. He moved to Orem at age eight and went to Orem schools graduating from Mountain View High School in 1984. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a two-year mission in Hartford, Connecticut.
Tom had a successful career in sales. He was working with the sales team at Brent Brown Toyota in Orem where he’d been employed for several years. Everyone he worked with loved him. Everywhere Tom worked he was loved and respected by his coworkers.
Tom had many hidden talents. He was an amazing artist and loved sketching and stippling. He also loved working with wood, making furniture and doing home improvement projects. He loved playing golf and was an avid sports fan. He loved motorcycles and sports cars. Travel was a passion and he had many opportunities to travel to different countries around the world.
Tom married Terri Long on September 29, 2004 in the Mount Timpanogos Temple. He cherished his sweet wife and always kept her laughing. Tom has three amazing children from a previous marriage, Sidnee (30), Mauree (22) and Ethan (21). He was the best father and always had time for his children.
Tom was loved by many for his sense of humor and most of all his kind and generous heart. He loved his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Terri Shields, children; Sidnee, Mauree & Ethan, his parents, Ed & Ora Shields, his siblings; Tony (Liz) Shields, Angela (Chet) Thomas, Melissa (Daryl) Ficklin and Jessica (Lance) Gordon.
A public viewing will be held from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 1305 North 100 East, American Fork, Utah. The funeral will be held privately for family only.
For those of you who know and love Tom & Terri Shields, like a lot of us do, we have started a Venmo collection for Terri Shields to help with Tom’s funeral and the hospital costs that insurance will not cover. Unfortunately, Tom had no life insurance so the financial burdens left by his passing will go directly to Terri. All amounts will be anonymous.
