Thomas LaMar Silcox's Obituary
Thomas LaMar Silcox peacefully passed away July 9, 2022, after a constant battle with declining health. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on July 4, 1942, to Thomas and Dorothy Silcox, the only boy of four children. As a little boy, he thought 4th of July celebrations were all about his birthday. He spent his early life with family and friends in Riverton, UT. He attended Elementary and Jr. high school in Riverton and attended Bingham High School where he met and married Rosemarie Paskett (later divorced). After living in West Jordan, they bought a home in Riverton where they lived for many years and had three children - two sons and a daughter.
As a young man, he learned to milk cows while working for Silcox Dairy, it was hard work, but he loved it. The dairy business became his livelihood, he worked in the dairy for Safeway, and retired from Smith’s dairy in 2002. Just prior to retiring, he followed his dream and bought a small ranch and moved to Montpelier, Idaho where he spent the remainder of his life raising beef cattle.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He always believed in his Heavenly Father and Savior. After moving to Idaho, he became active in church attendance and service and eventually became an ordinance worker in the Logan Temple. Serving in the temple became a highpoint in his life.
LaMar was a friendly person. He enjoyed visiting with neighbors, friends, and family, including those that provided medical care for him, they were all important to him. He was slow to judge and tried to see the good in those around him. He was loved by his family and all that knew him.
He is survived by two sisters: Afton Webb (Harry), Carolyn Stewart. His children; Jerry Silcox (Darla), Jim Silcox (Becky), Debrah Kay (Dale). He is the grandfather to sixteen grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and mother Thomas & Dorothy Silcox and a sister Barbara Royce.
