I recall when Brother and Sister Wyatt met with my wife and I along with their stake president to discuss whether Elder Wyatt could serve a mission in the Utah Ogden Mission. At the time, there were few opportunities for non-proselyting missions. While I wasn't very articulate at the time, I wanted to focus on Elder Wyatt's strengths and what he could provide in service. He was assigned to serve in the mission office. He initially was called to serve for three months. The family wanted to appraise his health at the end of the three months and assess then whether he could serve longer. He ended up serving two full years, way beyond what we anticipated. He served faithfully every single day of his mission. As new missionaries arrived, after interviewing them, I asked them to introduce themselves to Elder Wyatt and to ask him about the support he provided to them. Some were reluctant to approach someone in a wheel chair. I enjoyed observing the interaction from a distance. I believe every single missionary developed an appreciation for Elder Wyatt. He developed a lot of friendships with other missionaries as is evident by how many have shared with me what Elder Wyatt taught them. Well done, thou good and faithful servant.
I would be remiss if I didn't also express appreciation to Elder Wyatt's grandparents that supported Elder Wyatt each day in his service. He wouldn't have been able to serve without their daily support.
Elder Sterling Wyatt's younger brother was able to fill Elder Sterling Wyatt's assignments as a missionary upon Elder Sterling Wyatt's release.
We love Elder Wyatt. He will be dearly missed.
