Tony (Antonio) Bravo's Obituary
We celebrate the life of Tony (Antonio) Bravo, age 94, who passed away peacefully, surrounded by family members, on October 27, 2021. We remember Tony for his deep devotion to his family, his strong work ethic, and his sense of humor. Tony was born in 1927 in San Luis Potosi, Mexico and immigrated to the United States in 1948. He was raised by his loving parents – Martin Bravo (father), Ignacia Rodriguez (mother), and Belen Ortega (stepmother), whom he lost when he was young. At age 18, he immigrated to the United States, leaving behind his sister, Marcella de Lara, to follow his brothers: Eusebio, Margarito and Crispin Bravo. Tony worked as a migrant farm laborer, picking cotton across Texas and Arizona, thinning and harvesting sugar beets and onions across Utah, and picking cherries in Michigan. He married Rebeca De La Paz in San Luis Potosi in 1957, and in 1958 he settled in Layton with his wife and brothers. Tony worked as a riveter at the Utility Trailer Company in Clearfield from 1967 to 1989, when he retired.
Tony and Rebeca raised nine children: Irma Bravo (Robert Gonzalez) of Rialto, California; Joe Martin Bravo (Amy Bravo) of Arlington, Texas; Corina Bravo McHardy (Robert McHardy) of Evergreen Colorado; Efren DeLaPaz Bravo of Salt Lake City, Utah; Antonio Bravo Jr. (Annalicia Bravo) of Clearfield, Utah; Araseli Bravo Condas (Robert Condas) of Seattle, Washington; Noel Bravo (Patricia Bravo) of Washington DC; Hilda Ann Bravo (Moises Gutierrez) of Seattle, Washington; and Omar Jesus Bravo (Bonnie Bravo) of Clearfield, Utah. Tony is also survived by his loving grandchildren Meissa Dia, Heidi McHardy, Monica Bravo, Jessica Bravo, Maya Bravo, Benjamin Bravo, Alexis Bravo, Liliana Bravo, Andrea Bravo, Lorenzo Bravo, and Giovanni Bravo, and many additional family members and friends in Utah and Mexico.
A viewing will be held Sunday, October 31, 2021 from 5 – 7 pm at Premier Funeral Services, 5335 So. 1950 W. Roy, Utah. Funeral Mass will be held Monday, November 1, 2021, 11:00 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 4050 So. 3900 W. West Haven, Utah. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery. Facial coverings are requested at all services.
