Travis Lee Wendelboe's Obituary
Travis Lee Wendelboe (September 19, 1953 – April 25, 2015) Please Note: The funeral location is different than originally published.
On Saturday, April 25, 2015 Travis Lee Wendelboe passed away in the early afternoon from complications related to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). He passed away at Midtown Manor, a care center in Salt Lake City where he had been living for the past several years. Travis was the eldest of the three sons of Stratford L and Doris Parker Wendelboe and the last remaining sibling of their son, Calvin.
Travis grew up in Salt Lake City in a caring family with parents who loved him deeply. He attended schools in Salt Lake City including Webster Elementary, Clayton Jr. High, and East High. While in his youth he participated in family activities such trips to Lagoon, scouting, camp-outs and family vacations.
From his youth, he was burdened with mental illness which was later diagnosed as schizophrenia. Travis spent the majority of his 61 years living in managed facilities, or on the street. In spite of his schizophrenia, Travis was not hard to love and never really lost his childlike nature. As we loved him, he taught us all and we are grateful for a life he lived to the best of his abilities.
Travis is survived by his brother Calvin, his wife Cheryl, of Provo, Utah and their six children; Camille Pilmer (Justin) of Salt Lake City, Calvin Jr. (Krysta) of Provo, Nadia of Salt Lake City, Roman, Anastasia, and Christian all of Provo.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday April 30, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at the Provo Utah Grandview Stake Center located at 1600 North 1830 West, Provo, Utah. A viewing will be held prior to the funeral beginning 6:00 p.m. Interment and graveside services will be 11:00 am, Friday, May 1, 2015 at the Mount Olivet Cemetery in Salt Lake City, Utah.
