Troy Allen Mott's Obituary
Troy Allen Mott, 88, died peacefully at his home on Saturday August 10, 2013, due to complications relating to Anemia.
He was born March 14, 1925 in La Jara, Colorado to Joseph Elmer and Annie Prudence Coombs Mott. He is the 7th of 13 children.
Preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Eugene, Gladys Wood, Louis, Lyle, Kenneth, Ethel Hafen, Dwayne, Harvey, and Jacqueline.
He leaves behind his wife Doris, daughter Sheri (Jeff) Turner, his grandchildren Michelle and Brandon Tipton, Jared and Crystal Turner, Matthew Turner, Kellie and Craig Apfel, his great grandchildren Jayden, Aubrey, and Alli Tipton, Sam, Ella, and Sydney Turner, Madison and MaKell Apfel. He also leaves behind his siblings Wilma Horton, Gary Mott, and Jewell Fox. Troy attended school in LaJara, graduating from LaJara High School in 1943. He served in the Army in 1945-1946. He later attended BYU. He met Doris Paulson and they were married December 8, 1951. They have one daughter, Sheri Mott Turner.
He worked for the U. S. Postal Service from 1951-1962. He then worked for Provo City as Sealer of Weights and Measures, director of Business Licensing and Zoning Enforcement Officer till he retired in 1981. He received the Outstanding City Employee in 1973.
He was active in the American Legion Post #13, serving as Commander, and as coach and manager for the American Legion baseball team for over 30 years. Troy is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He held the office of Elder. Troy and Doris made their home in Provo; except for 4 years living in Springville.
Troy enjoyed baseball, golf, hunting, and fishing. Family was very important to Troy. As his grandkids and great grandkids grew up and participated in sports, he and Doris attended as many games as possible. He looked forward to phone calls and visits from his brothers, sisters, and extended family.
His quick and witty sense of humor was evident till the very end. Troy saw humor in all aspects of life.
He was a great example to us all for serving and helping his fellowman. He reached out and helped his family more times than we can count. Daddy, we love and appreciate you now more than ever.

A viewing will be held Friday August 16, 2013, 10am to 11am at Sunset 5th Ward Chapel, 1402 South 570 West Provo.
Graveside services will be held the same day at 1130am at Provo City Cemetery, 610 South State.
