She was the oldest of seven children. Utahna was proud of her name and made sure all knew she was named after the Timpanogos Indian Princess. She attended Springville High school and graduated from Weber High School in 1956, but always considered herself a “Red Devil” and regularly attended the Springville class reunions. In 1958 she participated in the Hill Cumorah Pageant in NY. In 2015, she was able to tour back to NY and attend the pageant once more.
In her early years, she worked as dispatch for Ogden Police Department and had some fun stories from that time. She went on to work for Amcor and the IRS and dabbled in making wedding cakes and decorating for weddings.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and attended wards in Washington Terrace, and more recently West Haven. She was also a proud member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers (DUP) and regularly attended monthly meetings.
Utahna had many interests and talents. She was a brilliant landscaper and always maintained and was proud of her beautiful yard and ponds. She enjoyed music and had season tickets to the Utah Symphony at Weber State every year. She sewed barbie clothes for her granddaughters that will be cherished and handed down. She spent hours scrapbooking and made several scrapbooks for her family. She also enjoyed family history and faithfully kept a record of her life story. She loved cooking and there are many memories with grandma making cookies. Her kitchen would be a mess, but grandma and girls would happy. We will miss her cooking and continue to relish her recipes. Being a mother and a grandmother was her greatest joy. She loved her family.
