Valerie Leimomi Wheeler's Obituary
Valerie Leimomi Wheeler, 80, of Clearfield, Utah, peacefully passed away at her home on December 22, 2025, surrounded by love. Her life was a beautiful song of faith, family, service, and generosity.
Valerie was born on October 13, 1945, in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Francisco and Julia Akamulana Keliʻi Mahieimoku Paʻaniani Tan. She later attended Armijo High School in Fairfield, California. Guided by her faith, Valerie met the love of her life, Leo Clifford Wheeler, at Airport Tabernacle Church in Suisun, California. They were married on January 6, 1962, in Reno, Nevada, beginning a loving partnership that lasted 64 years and was blessed with children and grandchildren.
A devoted woman of God, Valerie lived her faith daily through service, kindness, and compassion. She was an active and joyful member of Faith Baptist Church in Layton, Utah, where she volunteered faithfully, ministered to residents of Rocky Mountain Nursing Home, and participated in countless outreach activities. Valerie’s heart for others reflected her deep love for the Lord.
Creativity and music were woven into Valerie’s life. She had a beautiful voice and a deep love for singing, joyfully lifting her voice during church services and special programs. Her songs were expressions of her faith and a source of encouragement to all who heard them.
Family was Valerie’s greatest treasure. She was known for her generosity, warmth, and unwavering love. She delighted in spending time with her siblings, in-laws, children, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her church family. One of her greatest joys was teaching her grandchildren crafts and sharing with them her love for God.
Valerie is survived by her devoted husband, Leo Wheeler; her son, Leo Wheeler Jr. (Becky Wheeler), and their children Leo III, Bailey, and Breanna; her daughter, Kimberly Aguilar (Andrew Aguilar), and their children Daniel, Theresa, and Kendall; her sisters LaVerne Aldrich and Theresa Schneider (Donald Schneider); her brother David Tan; and many beloved nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her sons Daniel Lee Wheeler and Paul Timothy Wheeler; her parents, Francisco and Julia Akamulana Keliʻi Mahieimoku Paʻaniani Tan; her sister Sharon Leialoha Tan; her brother-in-law Robert Michael Aldrich; and her sister-in-law Dianna Tan.
Valerie will be laid to rest at the National VA Cemetery in Dixon, California, on January 23, 2026.
A viewing will be held for family and friends on January 23, 2026 from 9:00am to 12:00pm at McCune Garden Chapel, 212 Main Street, Vacaville, CA, 95688.
A celebration of Valerie’s life will be held at 2:00pm on January 24, 2026, at the Vacaville Moose Lodge, 6585 Gibson Canyon Road, Vacaville, CA 95688.
