Velma Rose Terry's Obituary
Velma Rose Terry
1936 - 2022
Velma Rose Terry passed away on November 11, 2022. Velma was born on April 19, 1936 in Salt Lake City, UT to Victor Lemar Terry and Ruth Goldie Landis.
She is survived by two sisters Virginia E. Terry and Jennette Terry. She was preceded in death by her siblings Lemar Terry, Levon Terry, Naomi Hesterman, Genevieve Lougee, and Roy Terry.
Velma grew up in Hinckley and Salt Lake City, UT, served a mission in the northern United States and lived for a time in Connecticut before making Salt Lake City her home. She was a Hinckley Mustang, went to Ricks College and BYU University. She worked for over 40 years at Litton working on airplane gyro equipment. She was also a long time member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers.
Velma was a kind person that touched the lives of many. She loved singing, cooking, crossword puzzles, newspaper funnies, and sending birthday cards filled with stickers. Most of all, Velma loved children. Though she had no children of her own, she cared for 9 foster children and spent lots of time with her countless nieces and nephews.
As a librarian and primary worker in her church she would always bring treats to share with the young children who were always happy to see her and share stories. Velma was a good listener and would listen without judgement.
Velma will be missed but the love for her will continue in the memories of her kindness, generosity, and love she brought to everyone around her.
