Venice Rigby Rodebush's Obituary
Venice Rigby Rodebush passed away peacefully on December 12, 2012 at the age of 92. She was born in Bancroft, Idaho on July 2, 1920. Her parents were Harold Edward and Mary Jones Rigby of Newton, Utah. Venice married Ollie F. Rodebush, a jeweler and watchmaker, on November 6, 1938 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. They raised seven children and were married for 51 years. Ollie preceded her in death on August 6, 1990.
Venice was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and held many positions in the Relief Society and Primary. She was also a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers where she served as parliamentarian. Venice enjoyed family adventures, outdoor activities, and researching family history. She loved to recite poems and sing songs. Venice never spoke an unkind word. She was a loving, caring, patient person, and she brought out the best in everyone. Venice is survived by her seven children: Jay William (Leone), James Edward (Joyce), Ron, Cleve Russell (Greta), Larry Dee (Debra), Sherry Ann (Danny), and Louise. She has 30 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters Lola Maughan, Janice McClure, and Sharon Ann Maughan, and brother Vaughan Dale Rigby. She was preceded in death by brothers Harold Jones Rigby and George Ralph Rigby, and sister Carol Mary Maloney.
Funeral Services will be held at the Canyon Rim 4th Ward, 3015 South 2900 East, Salt Lake City, Utah 84109 on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 11:00 am.
Viewing for family members and friends will be from 9:30 am until 10:30 am at that same location.
Interment will be at the Newton Cemetery in Newton, Utah at 3:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers in memory and honor of Venice Rigby Rodebush. Donations can be sent to the Canyon Rim Camp, 1267 E. Vintage Lane, Salt Lake City, Utah 84124.
