Vera Gouneld Hutchison's Obituary
On August 2, 2025 Vera Hutchison passed away in her home at the age of 85 and she was reunited with her dear husband, Jack. Vera was born on December 17, 1939 to Susan and Glen Taylor in Elba Idaho. Vera and Jack were high school sweethearts; they were married March 2, 1957 and they were together for 65 years. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. When she was 12, together with her sister Donna, Vera joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. At the time they were the only members of the church. Later her other two sisters joined the church as well. In high school she was a cheerleader for the football and basketball team, and of course she enjoyed watching Jack as he played on the teams. Soon after she married Jack, they moved to Provo, Utah where Jack attended BYU. Vera supported him, including lots of hours watching other student’s children. Upon graduation they moved to Lyman Wy. There Jack taught in the local high school where was a football and basketball coach. In Lyman they also purchased a fast food restaurant called the Polar King, where Vera ran the business. They then moved to Bancroft Idaho for a few years, and then on to Salt Lake City, Utah. In Salt Lake City Vera served as Relief Society President and Primary President. In 1979 they moved on to Provo Utah and there they enjoyed raising their children, spending time with BYU sports, and of course playing with their grandchildren, an area where she shined. Vera was a devoted homemaker, she dedicated her life to creating a warm and loving home for her family. She was known for her delicious cooking, her green thumb, and her unwavering support for her loved ones. Vera was a meticulous seamstress, and when her children were small she sewed most of their outfits. Vera is survived by her children; Tonia (Orlando) Kelm, Alan (Lynda) Hutchison, Teresa Lees, Brad (Riquel) Hutchison, her 26 grandchildren, her 34 great-grandchildren, and her sister Donna Harper, Vera was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Glennette, Cleta, and her son Boyd Hutchison. Vera’s funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 9 at 10:00am at the LDS chapel on 575 South, 400 West, Orem, Utah. Family viewing and family visits will be at 9:00am. The graveside service will immediately follow the funeral at the Eastlawn Cemetery, 4800 North, 650 East, Provo, under the direction of Premier Funeral Services.
