Vera Beth Stott Millet's Obituary
Vera was mentally, spiritually, and physically strong to the end of her life on Earth. She passed away from cancer at the home of her son, Navere in Riverton, Utah. After 60 years of missing her husband, they are together again never to be separated. We know she is filled with joy to be with other family members and especially with her daughter, Vienna Wheadon who passed away early in her life.
At the age of 33, her husband, Navarre Millet was killed in an accident at his work. Never remarrying again, she lovingly raised her seven children to follow in the footsteps of our Savior, Jesus Christ through her words and amazing example.
Her children: NaVarre (Rosa) Millet, NaVere (Madeline) Millet, NaValle (Becky) Millet), Venus (Roger) Johnson, NaVince Millet, Vienna (Doug) Wheadon, and Vonda (Robert) Bigelow. She has been blessed with 31 grandchildren, ¬¬¬52 great grandchildren, and 1 on the way.
She served two missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; one as a newly-wed while her husband was serving in WW2, and the second after her children were grown in Honolulu, Hawaii. Later she served in the Jordan River Temple.
Swinging from trees, climbing, running, horseback riding, bike riding, walking on stilts, and physically competing with others, she was a strong tom-boy as a child. As an adult some of these activities transformed into gardening and landscaping.
In her later years she was very hard of hearing, had burning mouth syndrome, and a bad case of macular degeneration; but because of her physical strength she was still found moving boulders, on a ladder cutting a branch from a tree, planting a garden, and mowing the lawn.
Knowing the Savior through her study of the Book of Mormon, gave her strength throughout her life; she often bore testimony of this. She knew it was true, and wanted everyone to have the opportunity of knowing Our Heavenly Father’s Plan of Happiness and Salvation.
A Service in honor of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11 at 8350 S. Jackson St., Midvale, UT. Due to COVID-19 attendance is by invitation only. However, we invite you to join us virtually on ZOOM: ID # 472-320-8000.
