Celebrating the life of Verl Deverall “ Brig “ Wagstaff, July 24, 1934 – July 24, 2026.
With full hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived, we bid farewell to our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend who passed away on July 24, 2026, surrounded by the warmth and love of his family. We also wish to extend our appreciation and love to those at the Auberge care facility who extended such love and gentle care for our loved one over the past two months. We know that Brig would be the first to express his appreciation for their sincere care.
Brig was a man of great energy, warmth, and unmistakable presence. Known for his classic impatience and haste – a trait that brought endless laughter to those who loved him – he lived every day with purpose and enthusiasm. He was a man of simple pleasures and deep passions, finding immense joy in:
Work: He loved to work and learn the joy and benefit of hard work. He began this journey working at the Mountain Bell Phone Co. at an early age where he worked for 20 years then branching out to create and build over the years, four different companies that brought him great pleasure, not only in the success of those companies, but in the associations that he was able to experience and the lasting friends that were made.
Gardening & Golfing: Tending to his vibrant garden-especially his prized potatoes and tomatoes – and generously sharing his fresh harvest with neighbors, friends, and family. When he wasn’t in the garden, you could often find him enjoying bright mornings out on the golf course.
Family: Cherishing every moment spent with his loved ones, who meant the world to him. His wife, Gale Ann, was his Angel here on earth.
Faith & The Gospel: He sincerely loved his Savior, Jesus Christ and his Heavenly Father. Brig found deep fulfillment in learning the gospel and eagerly sharing its’ light with everyone he met.
Brig truly loved people. A natural connector, he had a remarkable gift for working a room and leaving a lasting impression on anyone he talked to. Even when Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD) took away his ability to speak in 2023, his warmth, faith, and love for his family remained undeniably strong.
While we will miss him greatly, we take comfort in knowing he is at peace and reunited with his Heavenly Father and also with many loved ones who have passed on before him.
It truly can be said in earnest, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” Rest in peace. You will be forever missed, always remembered, and cherished in our hearts eternally. The love we have shared during this mortal journey will be a bright light that will radiate and continue to grow until we meet again.
