Vern C. Harward
May 23, 1932 – March 25, 2018
Vern C. Harward, age 85, passed away peacefully in his home March 25, 2018, surrounded by his loved ones. Vern was born May 23, 1932 in Aurora, Utah to Simmons and Agnes Curfew Harward. Married Colleen Elizabeth Best March 15, 1952 in Reno, Nevada.
Vern served proudly in the United States Army in Germany after WWII. He worked as a clerk and retired from the United States Postal Service at the Midvale Branch. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and an antiques dealer. Vern was an extraordinary man. Everyone who knew him throughout his life, absolutely adored him.
Vern is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Colleen; children Steven Lynn Harward and Amy Elizabeth Harward Dansie Dasilva, whom they raised; grandchildren, Randy Jr, Amy, Melanie, Blaise, Heather, Mandy, Dustin, Angie, Kazie, and Kody; 21 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren; brothers Eldon Harward and Mardell Jensen. Preceded in death by his parents, daughter Teri and son Randy, brothers Duane and Carl, sister Winona, and cousins Emma and Louis Trinko.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, April 2, 2018 at the Aspen Hills Ward, 9855 South 2300 East, Sandy, Utah with a viewing one hour prior at 10:00 am. Interment to follow at Utah Veterans Memorial Park, 17111 South Camp Williams Road, Bluffdale, Utah.
We would like to thank our dear friend Julie Nichols for her love and tender care of both Vern and Colleen. We’d also like to thank the staffs at Creekside and Alpha and Omega Home Health and Hospice, particularly Dawn, Brittany, Sariah, Kim, Trish, Marilyn, Brook, Britt, and Sequoia for their professionalism and kindness of our sweet Husband, Dad and Grandpa.
