Vicky Evelyn Calderon's Obituary
Ms. Vicky Evelyn Calderon, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2025, at the age of 82. She was a woman of deep faith, extraordinary artistic talent, and dedication to her community and family.
Vicky was born on September 13, 1943, in Erin, Tennessee, a daughter of the late Roy Eugene and Betty Evelyn Barnes. Her upbringing in Erin instilled in her a strong sense of community and the values that would guide her throughout her life. She was a proud graduate of Houston County High School. Driven by a passion for the arts and education, she went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree from Austin Peay State University. This academic achievement paved the way for fulfilling careers in art education within the public school system, where she inspired eager students, and later in social work for the state government, where she served with compassion and integrity.
Vicky's creativity was boundless and brought joy to all who knew her. She was a truly gifted artist, finding expression in many forms: painting, drawing, and sculpting. Beyond the visual arts, she also had a love for writing, sewing, and quilting, leaving behind a legacy of appreciation for all things beautiful. Her artistic talents extended into music; she enjoyed singing and playing the flute. She also found immense pleasure in the quiet world of literature and was an avid reader.
Her faith was a steadfast guide throughout her life. In Tennessee, she was an active and devoted member of the Arlington and Erin Cumberland Presbyterian Churches. After relocating to Utah, she continued her faithful worship at the First Presbyterian Church of Ogden, always finding strength and community in her spiritual life.
Vicky was married to Jose Calderon, with whom she shared many years of her life. Her memory will be forever treasured by her six precious children and their spouses: Joe; Trina; Lisa; Adam; Evelyn; and Dane. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy in her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchild, all of whom brought her immense pride and happiness.
She is survived by a large and devoted family. She will be profoundly missed by her siblings: Carol, Amy, Debbie, Leona, Margene, Jacob, and Jonathan.
Vicky was preceded in death by Jose; Gene and Betty; and her brothers, Jed and Jock.
The family extends its deepest gratitude to the dedicated and compassionate staff at Lotus Park Assisted Living and Memory Care and A-Plus Hospice Services for the exceptional care and comfort they provided to Vicky in her final days.
May the beautiful and creative memory of Ms. Vicky Evelyn Calderon bring peace to all who knew and loved her.
