Violeta Lopez Escobar de Rodriguez's Obituary
Violeta López Escobar de Rodríguez nació el 13 de agosto de 1926 en la finca Versailles, Nuevo Progreso, San Marcos, Guatemala. Ya de ocho años le enseñaron en la casa a hacer crochet, costureria, y leer libros clásicos. Se crio por su abuela y sus tíos quienes le enseñaron el amor por la música. Recibió su título de maestra de educación primaria al terminar la secundaria en San Marcos. Después de ejercer el magisterio por varios años contrajo matrimonio el 3 de Mayo de 1952 con Felicito Rufino Rodríguez. Juntos criaron a ocho hijos y compartieron su hogar con muchos jóvenes que necesitaban de una protección hogareña. Viajaron al temple de Meza, Arizona con toda la familia para sellarse en el temple por las eternidades en noviembre de 1966. Sirvió a la iglesia en varios llamamientos. Sirvieron como obreros en el temple de Guatemala por dos años. También sirvieron una misión de tiempo complete en Argentina como misioneros de historia familiar y en Nicaragua como asistentes en la misión. El 2 de mayo del 2000 fueron apartados como presidentes del temple de Villahermosa, Tabasco, México por el presidente Gordon B. Hinkley. Sirvieron en México por más de tres años. Durante los últimos 20 años ha servido como secretaria del patriarca Rodríguez, su esposo. Entre sus pasatiempos favoritos se encuentran hacer bordados de trajes indígenas típicos de Guatemala, hacer cruceta, crochet, cultivar flores, hierbas aromáticas, árboles y vegetales, y encontrar nuevas recetas culinarias. Le sobreviven su esposo Rufino y siete hijos: Rosa Romelia, María Mercedes, Víctor Alfonso, Amelia Concepción, Mariano Rufino, Billy Axel, y Carlos David, 31 nietos y 33 bisnietos.
Violeta López Escobar de Rodríguez was born August 13th 1926 in the Versailles Ranch, Nuevo Progreso, San Marcos, Guatemala. She was taught crochet, sewing, and to read classic literatura since she was eight years old. She was raised by her grandmother and uncles who taught her the love of music. She received her elementary education degree when she finished High School in San Marcos. After teaching for a few years, she married Felicito Rufino Rodriguez on May 3rd 1952. Together they raised eight children and they shared their home with many other youth that needed the protection of a home. They travelled to the Meza, Arizona with the entire family to be sealed in the temple for all eternities in November 1966. She served in the church with many callings. With her husband she served as temple worker in the Guatemala City, Guatemala temple for two years. They also served a full time mission in Argentina as family history missionaries and in Nicaragua as mission assistants. In May 2nd 2000 they were set apart as temple presidents of Villahermosa, Tabasco, Mexico for a little over three years. During the last 20 years she has served as secretary of Patriarch Rodriguez, her husband. Her favorite hobbies include embroidery of indegenous outfits from Guatemala, cross-stitching, planting flowers, aromatic herbs, trees and vegetables, and finding new meal récipes. She is survived by her husband Rufino and seven children: Rosa Romelia, María Mercedes, Víctor Alfonso, Amelia Concepción, Mariano Rufino, Billy Axel, y Carlos David, 31 grand-children and 33 grand-children.
