Virginia Marie Cordova's Obituary
Virginia Cordova AKA: Virginia Simmons (Bale), affectionately known as Ginny, passed away in the comfort of her home on March 22, 2024, at the age of 80. Ginny was born on August 12, 1943, to Arthur and Lucille Bale (Dempsey) in Vancouver, Washington and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. Her stepfather, Willis G. Goin helped raise her after the passing of her father, Author Bale.
Ginny married her first husband Boyd Martin Simmons at the age of 17, they had 6 children: 2 daughters and 4 sons. They later divorced. She met her husband Tiofilo (Lolo) Cordova a couple of years later, they shared a life together in Midvale, until his passing in 2013.
Ginny was hard working; she ran a daycare out of her home while raising her children. She later worked for Kennecott Coppermine, before starting her own home cleaning service with her oldest daughter, Tonna. She continued working part-time into her late 70’s.
As a mother, she was loving and fun. On chilly winter days she would make hot cocoa or a warm batch of chocolate chip cookies. Mom’s baking and cooking was the BEST! Mom enjoyed the simple things in life - Sunday drives, walks around the neighborhood, movies, watching her favorite soap opera - Y&R, sitting in the sun and pots of flowers placed throughout the yard during Spring and Summer months. She enjoyed nights out with her husband Lolo and friends, trips to Wendover, Laughlin, and Lava Hot Springs.
Ginny is survived by her children, Tonna Susaeta, Jeanna Underwood (Darrell), Boyd Simmons Jr., Todd Simmons, Chad Simmons (Shelly) Shane Simmons; 14 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, with 1 on the way. She is also survived by her brothers, Arthur Bale (Pat), Roger Bale (Debora), Bruce Bale (Susan) and many nieces and nephews.
Ginny was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Lucille Bale, her stepfather, Willis Goin, her husband, Lolo Cordova, her ex-husband, Boyd Simmons and her grandson, Justin Simmons.
