Vivian May Dahl's Obituary
Vivian May Zesiger Dahl, passed away January 12, 2015 in Clearfield, UT with three of her children by her side. She was born May 5, 1930 in Weiser, Idaho to Leo and Anniemay Cooke Zesiger. She married Reed M. Dahl on June 22, 1955 in the Idaho Falls Temple at Idaho Falls, Idaho and has been happily married for 59 years.
She worked as a telephone operator while she was single and financially assisted her husband through college until he earned his Bachelor’s degree in teaching. She was a homemaker for most of her married life but was an entrepreneur for five years. She owned a flower shop and blossomed as a florist. She was handy with her hands and enjoyed sewing and reading. She played a mean game of checkers, scrabble and Rook. She lived a life of quiet service to her husband and children. Many people were blessed by her acts of kindness and love. She is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served two stake missions before serving a full-time mission in the Northern States Mission. She was a temple worker for 2 years and served five additional full-time missions with her husband, Reed.
She is survived by her husband Reed, her sister Violet Helsley, and her six children: Sue Ann Sommerfeldt, Clifford (Katherine) Dahl, Renee (David) Atwood, Kevin (Pam) Dahl, Melody (Frank) Owens, and Barbara (Dave) Burk. She had 21 grandchildren and three step grandchildren: Karla, Barbie-Jo, Tina, Kai Lyn (Sue Ann); Liam (Clifford); Melissa, Reed, Angela, Charlyn, Tim, Loren, Daniel, Joel, Rebecca (Renee); Nichole, Heather, Mitchell, Kimberly, Stacey, Brooklyn (Kevin); Amanda, Frank III, (Melody); Ryan, Derek (Barbara). She had 15 great-grandchildren: Andrew, Lillyanne, Susan, Kimberly, Ginger, Julia, Thomas, Clarissa, Timothy (Renee); Jaxon, Lexi, Dallas, Briggs, Trey (Kevin); Porter (Melody) and eight step great-grandchildren: Arlene, Josiah, Owen, Katerine, Mathew, Rebecca, Zacknafien and Silque (Sue Ann). She is preceded in death by her parents Leo and Anniemay Cooke Zesiger, son-in-law Wade Sommerfeldt, and brothers Earl, Elmer, Glen and Melvin Zesiger. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, January 17, 2015 at the Clinton 23rd Ward, 2206 West 2300 North, Clinton, UT with a viewing prior to services from 9:45 to 10:45 AM with Interment in the Clinton City Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the “Vivian Dahl Memorial Fund” with America First Credit Union.
