Waldon Jay Louder's Obituary
Waldon Jay (Buzz) Louder entered into eternal rest on October 8, 2015. He was born in Park City Utah on June 1, 1937.
Jay was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in August 2015 and passed while residing at the Mt. Olympus Rehabilitation Facility in Salt Lake City.
Jay got his nickname of “Buzz” from his sister Claudia. When they were little, she was unable to say brother and it came out as “Buzz”. That nickname stayed with Jay all through his life.
He was preceded in death by his brother Larry, his sisters Rayda L. Hansen and Patricia L. K. Weiman, and his parents A.S. (Chub) and Fanny Nyman Louder and his first wife Carol Louder.
Jay is survived by his children Andrew (Mary) Louder, Lorraine (Tedd) Gilbert, and Kyle Louder, stepson Larry (Ruth) Conklin and their children Ashley (Aiden and Alana) and Kathryn. Two grandsons, Toby and Thad Gilbert. Also surviving are sisters and brothers Audrey L. Young, Claudia L. Giacoma (Lou), Wallace (Wally) Louder (Linda), Delbert Louder (JoAnn) and several nieces and nephews.
Jay graduated from Park City High and joined the Army for two years, and then he received education in engineering from both the University of Utah and Florida Institute of Technology. He then worked as a contractor for Rockwell Industries at NASA. There he used his skill and slide ruler to help put men on the moon. He then completed his career as an engineer at Cummins Diesel in Columbus, Indiana. Jay and his first wife Carol were avid bridge players in the community winning many tournaments.
Jay returned to the Evanston, WY, Park City and Salt Lake City area where he lived for over 10 years. He routinely kept up on friends and acquaintances from the “olden days” in Park City.
A graveside memorial service will be held for family and friends on Saturday October 24, 2015 at 10 AM at the Park City Cemetery. His children will conduct the service. Please RSVP if you would like to attend a luncheon that celebrates in Jay’s honor. Contact Andy at [email protected]
