Warren Robert Zeigler Sr's Obituary
Warren Robert Zeigler Sr., aged 68, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2023, surrounded by family in Salt Lake City, Utah. Born in Gary, Indiana, to Edward John Zeigler and Louise Ratchford, Warren’s life was a testament to faith, love, and dedication.
Warren was raised exploring the outdoors on the banks of the Little Calumet River at his grandparents’ cottage, where he fished, ice skated, and played with his extended family. He had a love for music, which he studied at the University of Utah, then served in the Army, where he was injured and honorably discharged.
Warren married Patricia Weaver at the Salt Lake City Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1978. Together, they lovingly raised six children: Gwen (Sandra), Pete (Ashli), Isaac (Lindsay), Jeremy (Brittany), Rachael (Rick), and Tricia (Bruce). They were grandparents to 19 cherished grandchildren. Warren was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia (2015), his parents, and his brother, Fred (Yaeko). He is survived by his sisters Becky (Gary), Linda (Scott), stepmother Sandi, and their families.
A devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Warren's faith was a central pillar in his life. He served a faithful mission in Sendai, Japan, gaining a love for the people and their culture. His passion for music, particularly singing in church and enjoying musicals, was a constant source of joy. His singing voice comforted all within its reach, especially a grandchild to be soothed.
Warren's hobbies and passions included a love for technology. He was always ready to assist others, known for helping stranded motorists and applying his self-taught skills to various technical and home projects. You could almost always find him with a book and a Diet Coke. His unique sense of humor often left you with a smile. Warren was a brilliant man and a natural teacher. Leaving a legacy of passion for learning and continued education.
Services will be held on Saturday, December 16th at the LDS church located at 2005 South 900 East, Salt Lake City, Utah, 84105. A viewing will start at 9 am, and funeral services will begin at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to WoundedWarriorProject.org. The meeting will also be streamed online at http://bit.ly/warrenzeigler.
Our heartfelt thanks go out to the teams at Salt Lake Veterans Hospital ICU, George E. Wahlen Veterans Home, and everyone for their support and love during this time.
