Wendy Robin Jones Allestad's Obituary
Wendy Robin Jones Allestad
September 15, 1952 – June 3, 2025
Wendy Robin Jones Allestad passed away peacefully on June 3, 2025, at the age of 72 due to complications from her previous stroke. Born on September 15, 1952, to Bob and Elizabeth Jones, Wendy was the youngest of her siblings Dale Jones, Marsha Savage, and Joyce Millikan.
A proud graduate of the University of Southern California, Wendy earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology before dedicating much of her professional life to serving others as a registered nurse. Her compassion and dedication touched many lives through her work in healthcare.
Wendy first married Christopher Kent Archer, with whom she had two children—Melinda Megan Hirz and Aaron Bradley Archer. The family lived in Eugene, Oregon, before Wendy moved back to California following their divorce to be closer to her family. Years later, she married David Allestad, with whom she shared 24 years of companionship, laughter, and support.
Wendy lived a life marked by creativity, resilience, and spiritual seeking. She bravely faced the challenges of manic depression but through this she created stunning artwork. Her faith journey brought her to know Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior—a truth that brought her peace and hope in her later years. Though not without struggles, Wendy believed in God’s grace and found comfort in the assurance of His love.
"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast."
— Ephesians 2:8–9 (NIV)
Wendy found joy in the simple pleasures of life: gardening, bird watching, and spoiling her beloved Golden Retriever, Jake, along with many cats over the years. She adored fancy dinners, dressing up in style, and decorating her home in bright, joyful colors. She was a passionate cook, though she would have happily handed off the cleaning to someone else. Always stylish, her hair was perfectly done and her wardrobe full of flair because she loved to shop.
Wendy will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, her artistic soul, her candid honesty, and the unique way she embraced life’s ups and downs. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy lives on in the hearts of her family, her art, and the many memories she leaves behind.
She is survived by her children, Melinda and Aaron; her sister, Joyce Millikan; and all those who were fortunate enough to know her. She is preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Elizabeth Jones, and her siblings Dale Jones and Marsha Savage.
"We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord."
— 2 Corinthians 5:8 (NKJV)
