William "Bill" Gerald Harwood's Obituary
William “Bill” Gerald Harwood
1940 - 2021
On Thursday, May 13, 2021, William (Bill) Gerald Harwood passed away at the age of 80 years old. He was born on May 24,1940 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to William Walter Harwood and Lula Wilma Moss. He attended East High School then enlisted in the Air Force in 1958 and was honorably discharged in 1962. Two years after his military service he married the love of his life, Ann Nelson (Lifferth).
Bill enjoyed the great outdoors and traveling the world. His proudest trophy was maintaining his lawn. He had the greenest, thickest lawn on his street. He taught his children the importance of taking pride in hard work but also took the time to have fun and laugh. He was known for his hilarious wit and humor.
Bill accepted all people no matter race, religion, or economic status, and saw everyone equally. The best Sunday mornings were when he made his beloved bacon-egg-hashbrown breakfast while listening to Dolly Parton.
Bill moved to Florida in 1989. His loyal and dear friend, Roger Gomez, has a special place in our hearts. We thank you, Roger, for the care, support, and friendship you gave “MaBoro” for so many years.
Special thank you to the William E. Christopherson Salt Lake Veterans Home. Bill loved each and every one of you. We are so grateful for the wonderful care he received and for managing his Parkinson's, rehabilitation, memory care, and for all the wonderful activities & interactions you provided.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William and Donna Harwood, his brothers Steve & Mike Harwood and sister Donnalee Watts. Bill is survived by his 7 children: Diana (& DJ Sprague) of Utah, Julie Harwood of Utah, Maria (& Dave Stalnaker) of Michigan, Michael Harwood of Ohio, Karl (& Heather) Harwood of Texas, Marian (Mimi) (& Christian Jacobs) of New Jersey, and Elliot (& Sarah) Harwood of Idaho. He is also survived by his brothers Danny & Cathy Stam, Edward & Sandy Harwood, and sisters Valerie & Gary Metcalf, Cindy & Pat Patterson. He has 21 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
