William "Bill" Copsey's Obituary
On Tuesday, December 6th, 2022, William Copsey left earth to spend the holiday in heaven with his Savior. Bill is finally free after 32 yrs of unimaginable physical pain and is dancing and playing in the presence of the family who left before him.
Bill was born on October 18, 1962, in Kodiak, AK, to Clayton and Zelanna Copsey, the middle child of three. The family moved when Bill was a young child down to the lower 48, and finally settled in Salt Lake until he was in high school when they moved to West Jordan.
It was while attending Bingham High that he met his future wife and oldest son. Bill joined the Seabees right out of high school and spent time working as a utilitiesman on Midway Island, Guam, and Sicily, before being honorably discharged after 6 years to spend time with his growing family.
In 1982, Bill married the love of his life and best friend, Stacie (Allred) Copsey and they spent 42 wonderful years together through the trials of Bill’s medical and pain challenges. During this time, they also raised their children and were fortunate to gain 5 more wonderful daughters to finish raising along with helping many other foster daughters along the way who remained daughters in his heart.
Bill is survived by his mother Zelanna, wife Stacie, sons Paul & Delana Copsey, Shaun & Lisa Copsey, daughters, Melody & Gabe O’Neal, Noelle & Jason Brown, Santana Finney, Shayla & Phil Koteny, Amber Copsey, and Abi Copsey & Hector Cuenu . There are also 33 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by son Aaron and daughter Tiffany, his father and grandparents and special grandma-in-law.
A service will be later in the new year. For those who would like to honor his memory, donations to the Wounded Warrior Project https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/, or other veteran organization would be a wonderful way to do so.
