I was feeling nostalgic today and ran across this. Brother Andy was my pastor when I was in elementary school - Stan and Steve and I were around the same age and I had brothers that were friends with the older kids. My mom was his secretary for a few years at Calvary Baptist in Englewood in the mid 70's. I have great memories of spending time with their family - dinners at their house, many activities at church. Connie was much older than I, and she always felt like the best big sister. I hope she's reading... My condolences to the Hornbaker family - Andy and JoAnn made a difference in so many lives, and definitely for my family.

Brother Andy was my pastor from about 4th grade through 11th grade at FBC-Security-Widefield in Security, CO. I grew up with his children and Sharon was one of my dearest friends, and still is! I worked for Mrs. JoAnn in the church daycare center during my high school years. During that time, the church really grew and had great ministries for children and youth. The picture posted is from church camp in 1972 at the Ponderosa Baptist camp north of Colorado Springs. Brother Andy is on the right. We had enough children and youth in the church to have our own camp that year. I have many good memories from growing up in that church. Brother Andy was so funny and didn't know a stranger. My mother, who could not attend church much because of her work schedule, absolutely adored him! She would repeat every funny thing he said to her at church, or if she saw him at the grocery store! I am sure Jesus greeted him with "Well done good and faithful servant!"

Pastor Andy was a giant godly man who, when speaking I was all ear. I first met him at Holladay Baptist church. His sense of humor and words, I knew I had found a home.
Several years later (2001) he married my wife and I in Big Cottonwood canyon. Everyone was so impressed with Pastor Andy and just loved him as I did.
To his Children, thank you for sharing. Your father was an amazing man. As your mother did, I can't wait to hear his big laugh and give him a big hug. Clint.

Andy came along in my life at a time when I needed a great mentor. Without Andy, I would not have had much of a music ministry there in Salt Lake. Without Andy being attentive and obedient to the Holy Spirit, I may not have had a lifetime of music ministry. Andy was that instrumental in my ministry. And without Andy, I would never have gone to Glendale Baptist Church to provide special music where I helped the Reverend Phillip Aaron with his music program, met his daughter the church pianist, married his daughter (Arin) to whom we just celebrated our 38th wedding anniversary…and the 37 birthday of our daughter Brittany. I look forward to the day when I move from the suburbs of Christ’s Kingdom and into that Holy City, and work once again with Andy and my Phillip Aaron, and many, many others, to bring glory to our Heavenly Father. Love you, Andy. Thank you for your love and faithfulness.

Reverend Andy was the preacher for many years in Englewood, Colorado. My high school buddy was his son Ron. many times i was invited to the family table for one of Jo Ann's dinners, and i was privileged to hear some of Andy's sermons. His following at Calvary Baptist was large and loyal. The Hornbakers spread love and warmth to everyone, and it was a privlege to have known them. Kevin "Amo", Englewood, Colorado

He was one of my favorite pastors growing up at Holladay Baptist church. He was a Godly influence in my life and we’ll never be forgotten. I have many fond memories of his preaching style. His kind hearted, joking, mannerisms, and the kindness. He showed me and my family through the death of mom and dad. He was such an amazing man . I pray for each of you as you deal with the loss of this beloved Godly man. Please know you’re in our thoughts and prayers.

He was my Pastor as a teenager. I just loved him, he was so funny and had an infectious smile. I always felt loved by him. What a tremendous blessing he was to so many. Enjoy heaven!

Andy was a childhood pastor of mine at Trinity Baptist Church in Pittsburg, KS. He definitely left a lasting impact on my life for Christ. As a child you always felt loved and cared for by Brother Andy.
