William Garth Nuttall's Obituary
William Garth Nuttall, 86, peacefully passed away at his home in West Jordan on Monday, July 13th, 2020 with his wife of 67 years, Javann, by his side. Garth was born to James Vernard Nuttall and Iris Verena Andersen in Idaho Falls, Idaho on September 5, 1933. Garth enjoyed his childhood with 9 siblings and worked for his family’s grocery store. He married his High School sweetheart, Javann Owen on June 26, 1953 in the Idaho Falls Temple and was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints his whole life. He served in many callings and enjoyed serving in the Jordan River Temple for many years. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Accounting and later started and ran a successful local advertising paper - Basin Nickel Ads employing several of his children. He is survived by his wife, Javann, 9 children: Vicki Holmes (Dennis), Joel Nuttall (Debbie), JennaVee Nuttall (deceased), Guy Nuttall (Anna), Roger Nuttall, Sylvia Langdon, Rosalee Ewell, Daniel Nuttall (Jamie), Rachel Ward (Jim) and Jacob Nuttall (Krista). Also 31 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren. His hobbies included tumbling, diving, boxing, word games and reading. His family knew him as hard-working and witty, always trying to make us smile with a riddle or a play on words or a funny story. Sometimes he would just break out in song or dazzle us with a memorized poem designed to inspire us to face our troubles head on. He had an amazing will to live and to do and to never sit still. Even after his first stroke that took away his ability to do many of the things he enjoyed, he refused to let it get the best of him. We will always remember him for his positive outlook on life and his willingness to eat anything our mom cooked for dinner when the rest of us wouldn’t. Rest in peace Dad.
