William Kent Walden's Obituary
William Kent Walden, 83, of Mesquite, Nevada, passed away on December 20, 2025 in Henderson, NV. He was born on March 10, 1942, in Denver, Colorado to John and Faye Walden. Bill graduated from South High School in 1960 and went on to get a Bachelor’s Degree from Brigham Young University. Bill played baseball for BYU and was a starting pitcher during his college baseball career.
He met the love of his life while he was at BYU. He married Jannae Hurlbet in the Manti Temple on June 1, 1963. They had 4 amazing children: Kimberly Ann, Scott Edward, Kristin Marie, and Kelly Leigh.
Bill had a wonderful career working for the US Navy. He was chosen for a Congressional Fellowship in 1976, representing the Navy while working with Congress and the House of Representatives for a year. He was a Bishop for the LDS church many times throughout his life. He was also an entrepreneur, and had many productive businesses, including a very successful jewelry business.
Bill was known for making a difference in so many people’s lives. He was a compassionate man and his life was one of service. He loved those he served, especially his family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jannae Walden, and his four children: Kim Fox, Scott Walden, Kristin Hopla, Kelly Cronkhite. He has 10 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A graveside memorial service will be held this Saturday at 11:00 AM on January 3, 2026, at Provo Cemetery (610 S. State St. Provo, UT). There will be a lunch served afterwards at the Grandview 5th ward church building (1555 N. 1350 W. Provo, UT).
