Yvonne McArthur Evett's Obituary
Yvonne McArthur Evett (formerly Marriott) passed away peacefully just before noon in Orem, Utah on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at the age of 91.
Yvonne was born to John and Pearl McArthur on July 28, 1934, in Oakley, Idaho. She was the youngest of thirteen children.
At the age of 16 she married John Marriott. After their marriage, John joined the Air Force and together they moved several times across the country. Over the years, Yvonne gave birth to seven children in five different states before the family eventually settled in Torrance, California, where she made many lifelong friends. After divorcing, she later married Colby Evett, and together they ran Evett’s Model Shop in Santa Monica, California. Following Colby’s passing, she faithfully kept the shop open until 2019.
Yvonne lived a full and generous life. She loved spending time with her family and found joy in serving others. Each year she bottled grape juice and made jam from her garden to share with loved ones. She became known for sending sugar cookies across the country to her grandchildren at Valentine’s Day and Halloween. Whenever someone was in need, she could be counted on to bring a meal or bake a dozen of her homemade rolls. She delighted in gardening and warm evening walks. Her home reflected her joyful spirit, filled with porcelain dolls, carousels, and plenty of chocolate.
For over 30 years, Yvonne worked as a home health aide and a hospice volunteer, tenderly holding the hands of countless souls as they left this life. In her final moments, she slipped away peacefully, embraced by the love of her family and welcomed by those who had gone before.
She is survived by her children Linda, Larry (Pam), Brenda, Mike (Debbie), Diane (Brent), Tom (Sharon), and Darren, along with 25 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, 9 sisters and 3 brothers, her first husband John Marriott, her second husband Colby Evett, and her granddaughter Andrea Marriott.
She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Though she has departed this life, Yvonne Evett’s legacy of love, service, and joy lives on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Services will be held Saturday, August 30, 2025, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1780 N 165 E Orem, Utah at 11:30am. A viewing will take place that morning at the same location from 10:00am-11:00am. Yvonne will be laid to rest at the Orem City Cemetery.
