Zulla Colleen Jensen's Obituary
Zulla Colleen Jensen, our Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Aunt and Sister, who we love and adore passed away peacefully surrounded by family members on Sunday, August 25, 2024. Zulla was born in Moroni, Utah on November 7, 1926, the daughter of Franklin and Faith Jensen. She was the sister of Elliot, Beverly, Joe, Bonnie and Paul.
Their family was raised in Moroni where many fond memories were formed. Their family moved to Provo when Zulla had one more year of high school. She remained in Moroni but joined them after graduating. She worked for Provo city as a recorder. Eventually, she set out on her own to the city of San Francisco, where she ran up and down the hills in her high heel shoes trying to catch the trolley cars. She also caught a man. Rodlyn Freeland Jensen became her husband, bringing with him his three kids Kent, Carole, and Pamela. The next few years brought two more children to the young family, first Linda, and then Jenny.
Zulla and her family lived in California for 22 years, but almost every summer was spent in Utah with family. There was camping, swimming, card games and just time spent with her people. As soon as she retired as a needle arts stitcher, she, Rod and Jenny (who was the last one home) moved back to Utah.
Their retirement years were filled with trips with extended family all over Utah— Fairview and Lake Powell were some favorites.
Zulla loved sewing, stitching, creating, and then giving her creations to those she loved. Zulla loved her family beyond measure. As her family grew from parents and siblings to husband, children, nieces and nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, she continued to be very involved and loved every moment.
Zulla is survived by her son Kent, and her daughters Carole and Jenny, 23 grandchildren and 41 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Rod and daughters Pamela and Linda.
Zulla was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and was an example of Jesus Christ. She was devoted to all her relationships and is a powerful example of how we can strive to love others. Her faith gives us hope that we will meet again.
A funeral service will be held to honor Zulla on September 4, 2024 at 11:00 am at the LDS chapel, 955 West 1600 South in Orem.
