Jerry was a valued member and board volunteer of the John W. Hess Family Organization. Our condolences to his immediate family and friends. He disclosed his ALS diagnosis to us in February and was released from his responsibilities. The disease must have progressed rapidly.

We have faith that his family will receive the promised Comforter to assuage their loss and grief as they mourn his temporary absence until the resurrection and future joyful reunion with his beloved family.

I knew Jerry through our mutual involvement with the Weber County Sherriff’s Emergency Communications Team. He always had an ear to ear grin on his face whenever I saw him. He seemed to have a love for everyone around him and a love for life. Rest In Peace my friend.

I was saddened to read Jerry's obituary in the Salt Lake Tribune this morning. Our paths crossed and ran somewhat parallel in the late 1960's when we both worked part time for the Weber County School district educational television station KWCS-TV. We worked there while finishing our degrees in Electronic Engineering at what was then Weber College. I'm sure we shared some of the same classes although my ancient memory can't be more specific. I remembering enjoying Jerry's company.
My deep condolences to the family at the loss of a gentle, intelligent man. As KF7WJH his "key" is now silent. May he rest in peace.

I first met Jerry and Sandi at a an alumni reception at Weber State University, where we had both been members of the Emeriti Aluimni Council. As our conversation turned to our respective professions, we discovered we had both been in the Foreign Service. I then invited Jerry and Sandi to join a group of retired foreign service folks who met once a month for lunch or dinner. It was there my wife and I got better acquainted with the Mohrs. I lookeed forward to each meetging where we coould converse and reminisce about our lives abroad and in DC. Jerry was without exception engaging and generoous. Unfortunately, we had to suspend our get-togethers during COVID, and it wasntil we renewed having them that I received the tragic news of Jerry's illness. Sandi, I just saw Jerry’s obituary. I am so sorry to hear of his illness and death. I have just been thinking of you two. I am going on a trip with friends to Niagara Falls and remembered our trip in 1974. My favorite memory of Jerry was his love for movie theatre popcorn. He would go to the nearest theatre and buy the popcorn and come back to their apartment & eat it & watch television. (He was was too frugal to pay fir a theatre ticket,too!). We had the pleasure of knowing Jerry and Sandi and found a common interest in traveling. Some of our adventures took us to Europe cruising many old world ports full of history and discoveries. One of our favorite trips was to Alaska where we touched glaciers, went zip lining in the tree tops and the amazing train ride up white pass into the Yukon. We took so many pictures, beauty everywhere we went. Jerry and Sandi visited us on Vancouver Island and welcomed us to their home last year. We cherish the time we spent together, full of adventure and love.
