Albert “Jerry” Gerald Mohr
1946 - 2022
Albert Gerald Mohr, known as “Jerry” throughout his life, passed away at his home in South Ogden, Utah on Saturday morning, August 20th, 2022, at the age of 76. He had ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.
Jerry was born January 3, 1946 in Brigham City, Utah to Albert Fredrick Mohr and Delone Fox. He is the oldest of 3 children with sister, Janice Carol, and brother, Keith Russell.
Jerry graduated from Bonneville High School in 1964. Jerry loved electronics, music, photography, and the outdoors. He held the position of yearbook photographer, he built his own radio station, and he worked college summers at Bryce Canyon National Park.
Jerry graduated from Weber State in 1968 with a degree in Electronics Engineering Technology. After graduating, he remained an active alumnus, even serving on the Weber State Emeriti Alumni council for several years. He was a faithful member of the LDS church and he served in many branch, ward, and stake callings.
Jerry was a Colonel in the US Army, having served 31 years in the US Army and Army Reserve. He is also a Vietnam War Veteran serving with the 1st Signal Brigade during the Vietnam War and earning a bronze star for his service. After his time in the army, Jerry worked for the Central Intelligence Agency for over 30 years and traveled all over the world serving his country. He later worked for several defense contractors including Telemus and Raytheon.
Jerry married Sandra Johnson in the Salt Lake LDS temple on March 30, 1973. They have six children: five sons (Brian, Richard, Steven, David & Adam) and one daughter (Teresa). Throughout their lives, Jerry and Sandi have lived in Alexandria, Virginia; Tripoli, Libya; Hayama, Japan; Rockville and Gaithersburg, Maryland; and South Odgen, Utah.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Loren T. Schoss, and brother Keith. He is survived by his wife Sandi of almost 50 years, his sister Janice and her husband Gary High, and their six children: Brian and Rosie, Teresa, Richard and Rachel, Steven, David and Jennifer, Adam and Allison, and grandchildren: Tyson, Hailey, Bria, Connor, Andrew, Logan, and baby Mohr on the way.
There will be a viewing on Friday, September 2nd, 6-8pm, and Saturday, September 3rd, 10:30-11:45am. The Funeral will be held at noon on Saturday, September 3rd. The viewings and funeral will be held at the Pleasant Valley 5th Ward Chapel, 5735 Crestwood Drive, South Ogden, Utah 84405.
Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery, in Arlington, Virginia at a later date.
