Arthur Gayle Nielsen
September 20, 1936 – April 26, 2018
Our Father, Son, Grandfather and Brother passed away at home on April 26, 2018 surrounded by his family.
He was born September 20, 1936 in Monroe Utah, to Emery Eric Nielsen and Cora Parson Nielsen. He attended Sevier High School graduating in 1954, where he met his sweetheart, Mildred Lorne Shaw. They were married on January 8, 1955 in Elsinore, Utah and later solemnized their marriage in the Salt Lake City temple, December 16, 1955. They spent 62 wonderful years together.
Gayle was a loving, caring man. He was a great example to all that knew him. He dedicated his life to his family and his church. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served as a bishop and High Council member. He served for over 20 years with The Boy Scouts of America where he obtained an honorary Eagle Scout Award and the Silver Beaver. He was a talented carpenter and created many beautiful pieces that have been enjoyed by his close family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mildred, their son Kelly Gayle, His parents and his grandson Robert D. Thurgood.
He leaves behind his children Kimbalee (David), Tony, Layne and Wendy. He also leaves behind six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday May 5, 2018 at the Western Hills Stake Center 5380 W. 5400 So., Kearns, UT. A Viewing prior to the services will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. at the Church.
