I miss you momma. Save me a place in Heaven.
I'm so sorry for your loose. Barbara was such a wonderful lady to work with. She was always so positive when she would work with the students at Orchard Elementary. May your family find comfort at this time. Mrs. Whitehead
My heart is saddened at the loss of your sweet wife and mother. I hope you can find peace in the promise of your eternal family.
Dear Shurtleff family, I am so sorry to hear about Barbara's passing. She was a wonderful woman and my heart is sad to know she had to leave this life early. Her volleyball friends have missed her and will remember her fondly. May the Spirit comfort and bless you at this time. Love, Erin :)
My cousin Barb was a beautiful, loving, generous person. I have been thinking of her these past few weeks, remembering all she did for me back when I was a college student at BYU and a new mother -- she was the family nearby when I needed her. My heart goes out to you, Kevin, and to your children at this time.
We, too, remember Barbara with fondness having lived in Joplin during her lifetime. I was also her Bishop. She was a good example to all, not just to her peers, but also to us adults. She was always complimentary and did not dwell on negative things.
She was always there to lift others and we could always count on her to do the right thing. We still remember when she was a Senior at Memorial High School and along with our son was voted "Miss Eagle" while Mike was voted "Mister Eagle". That was quite amazing since LDS students only represented about 1% of the student body.
She was truly one of whom it is said, she let her light so shine before men that "they may see her good works and glorify her Father which is in Heaven."
We all look forward to a reunion in the next life. Her mother must be thrilled to have her with her at this time.
Our sympathy goes out to her whole family and may you be comforted knowing that she had a wonderful welcome on the other side.

So sorry to hear about the loss of Barbara. She was a close friend in my childhood life. Her brother Tom, was my Best-Friend and a lot of time and summers were spent with the family. Many thoughts and memories. Bless your family.

Kevin: Jamie and I are so sorry for your loss. Barbara was a great person and a wonderful friend to us. Jamie was so very grateful to have had the opportunity to visit with her late this summer.
It has been a rare privilege to have known her since I joined the church at age 12 and Jamie to have known her since she moved to Joplin in 1980.
I can't possibly imagine how to comfort you, but know that our hearts go out to you and your family and we pray for you.
Friends forever, Kevin & Jamie Foster
Barbara you were a great little sister. I was always proud of your accomplishments and abilities. Thanks for opening your home and heart for us.
Love ya!
