A few of the things I remember about grandma.
My birthday was the same day as Grandpa Bruce Glad's birthday. We would always go to grandma and grandpa's for his birthday party and Grandma Betty always made sure I had my my own personal little birthday cake and a birthday present for me. I remember when she gave me a beautiful purple turquoise and green dress that I really loved, She said the colors were so pretty with my hair. Another year she gave me a little silver and turquoise ring that I still have.
I remember the Glad family would go to her house on the first Sunday of the month for dinner. I loved playing with my cousins while the adults visited. I remember Christmas dinners and family dinners where it was considered a great victory if we could get her to stop serving long enough to sit down and eat.
When my little 4-year-old, Jim, had a brain tumor she would come up to Primary Children's Hospital and visit. Only parents were allowed in his ICU room so she would just sit in the hall and visit with me. Later when he was out of his coma she would come and sit with him so I could take a break, Jim was always afraid of being left alone.
She was always so kind and I loved her.
