Cindy Fredrickson's Obituary
Cindy Fredrickson passed away peacefully at home, May 21, 2026, surrounded by family after a valiant three year battle with ALS. Cindy tried so hard to still be a part of everyone's life, enduring much to be able to attend games, concerts, and graduations for her children and grandchildren.
Cindy was born February 18th in Mt. Pleasant, Utah, to Leo Morley Cloward and Tessie LaJune Hansen Cloward, who made their home in Moroni, UT.
She attended north Sanpete high school where she met her eternal companion Clyde H Fredrickson III. Clyde had to walk past Cindy's seminary class to get to his, and would wink at her when he walked past every day. That was the beginning of their love story. They were married April 3rd. They were sealed in the Manti, Utah temple.
Their oldest son, Clyde H Fredrickson IV (Little Clyde) was born July 27, 1977. He passed away December 29, 1980. Brian was born in 1979. Following Clyde's passing came Nicholas (1981), Cameron (1984), and Dallin (1991). Cindy and Clyde lived in Moroni, UT; Chicago, IL; Mt. Pleasant, UT; Hamilton and Polson, MT; and Orem, UT, before putting down roots in American Fork where they have lived for nearly 34 years, the last 26 in the same house.
Cindy loved planning parties and had a special gift for making everyone feel celebrated and loved. Whether decorating for the holidays or hosting a themed party or Sunday dinner, Cindy brought warmth, creativity, and joy into every gathering. Over the years themes included a party where everything was orange, a fishing party with the brownies cut in fish shapes and laid in a cast iron pan like they were cooking, and parties with Mickey Mouse in all sorts of different themes. When the boys were younger, she would print "Happy Birthday" really big on tractor fed paper so it made a big banner. She would write little rhymes or fun things on plain paper or sticky notes and hide them all around the house the night before. In the morning, it was a blast to go around and find all of the sticky notes she had hidden for you. (Note from Clyde - We would compose the notes late at night, it made them more fun). She would build a tower out of donuts for your birthday breakfast. She always made birthdays special.
Cindy collected many fun and beautiful sets of dishes, and decorations to put out for every season and holiday. She especially loved the majestic 12 ft Christmas tree in the living room each Christmas.
Cindy was a talented seamstress. She was known for making hooded towels as a gift for baby showers. She made many amazing halloween costumes over the years like Fred Flintstone, Captain Hook, a lightning bolt costume, a hitchhiking ghost from the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland, and a very elaborate Captain Jack Sparrow costume.
Cindy was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She loved to have all the grandkids come stay for a week during the summer for what she always called "summer fun." She would also have each grandchild over individually to stay a night during the summer. Each year, she would video the kids saying their names and ages followed by "and I'm here for summer fun!" She always made sure that life's special moments were well documented and took a lot of pictures and videos so that everyone would have those memories. Though she accomplished many amazing things throughout her life, she considered her greatest accomplishment and her greatest joy to be her family. She loved us, and we always knew she did.
Cindy served faithfully in many callings as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, from teaching sunbeams, to activity days, to relief society committee. She was a devoted visiting teacher/ministering sister, never missing a month. She gave her best to the Lord and to those she served, always helping others feel her love and the love of the Savior.
She is survived by her husband, Clyde; her sons, Brian (Amanda), Nicholas (Sarah), Cameron (Tammy), and Dallin (KayLeigh); her 12 grandchildren, Charlize, Emily (Ethan), Leo, Stran, Lucy, Lily, Hazel, Maggie, James, Ellie, Hudson, and Oakley; 2 great-grandsons Asher and Silas; and her sisters, Kae (Howard) Newton, Gae (Jim) Furniss, Julie (Mark) Adamson, and Melanie Cloward.
She is preceded in death by her son, Little Clyde; her parents, Leo and Tessie Cloward; and her brother, Judd Leo Cloward.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 1, 2026, at 1:00 pm, in the chapel located at 1120 N 150 W, American Fork, UT, 84003. A viewing will be held prior to the services, beginning at 11:00 am.
Interment will take place at the Moroni City Cemetery in Moroni, UT.
