Jill Thompson
Clide was the Best Man at my wedding in 1974 when I married his good friend Bill Thompson. Bill and Clide had been friends for years. Clide always had stories that made Bill and me
laugh. We loved Clide. He was an important part of our lives. Bill and I moved around the country for 25 years. Wherever we were, Clide would track Bill down and talk to him on the phone for hours on end. Bill never saw Clide after we left SLC in 1981, but Clide always kept in touch with Bill until his death in 2020. Clide and I cried together when I told him Bill had died. I last saw Clide in 2022 when I went to UT for a high school reunion. We had lunch, drove around the SLC area, talked and talked, and just had a good time together. I last spoke to Clide this year after he was admitted to the rehab facility. I was very sorry to hear Clide tell me about his fall at home and his subsequent hospitalization. He told me what great support he received from his family: visits at the hospital, cleaning out his mobile home, caring for his pets, etc. I had been wondering about Clide for months and kept hoping he would call me. His phone number had changed and I did not know his new number. Now I know why I never heard from him again. Clide, I miss you terribly. I will never forget you or your stories that made Bill and me laugh hysterically. May you rest in peace.
