Clide Eugene Hiner Jr.'s Obituary
Clide Eugene Hiner Jr., age 79, passed away on May 10th, 2025. He was born March
15th, 1946 in San Bernardino, California. Clide was the son of Clide Eugene Hiner Sr. and
Elinor Marie Hiner. He attended Catholic school at St. Ann’s in San Bernardino, California prior
to moving to Utah. Dad was a construction worker where he operated heavy machinery. After
many years of this, my dad went to work with Uncle John at Intermountain furniture.
Dad was very witty and had a great sense of humor. He loved to make people laugh and
everyone loved his stories. People would say to me, “I just love your dad” and he was
affectionately called “California Clide” by some of his close friends. Dad was loved by his dog,
Jake, and his cat. He wanted to make sure they were taken care of and asked about them often.
Dad may have fallen away from the church over time but during his last three months he
went back to his faith for comfort and peace. Dad did everything he could over the last couple of
months to make things right with God. Dad was a fighter and he fought until the end.
I was very blessed to spend the last three months with my dad. We were able to just talk
and learn more about each other. We laughed, we cried, and sometimes we just sat there in
each other’s company. It didn’t matter, we just took the time we had. I prayed like crazy for more
time with dad but God had a different plan for him.
Dad will be missed by all who knew him. He had some of the most amazing friends and
family in his life that were always there for him. Thank you for being there for him and his wife,
Linda. May they both rest in peace.
Clide is preceded in death by his father, Clide Eugene Hiner Sr, his mother, Elinor Marie
Hiner, his wife, Linda Hiner, and his step-son, Jason Humphrey.
He is survived by his brothers, John and James Hiner, his sister, Marianne Madsen, his
daughter, Janica Gilbert, and his step-daughter, Lisa Broxterman. He is also survived by nieces
and nephews, as well as six grandchildren. Patrick ( God son) and Olivia ( God Daughter)
