Connie Jo Whittaker Lane's Obituary
After a long courageous battle with cancer, a beautiful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Connie Jo Whittaker Lane, returned to her Heavenly Father on Sunday evening, December 15th, 2024.
Connie was born January 22, 1946, the oldest child of Joseph Albert Whittaker and Barbara May McDonald.
She was baptized and confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, in the Tabernacle on Temple Square in 1954. She grew up on North Redwood Road, surrounded by her extended family, until they moved to Rose Park. At age 10, the family
moved to Hunter. She loved how every Sunday evening was spent with family together.
In addition to family time, she loved to read, cook, roller skate, and go camping.
She graduated from Cyprus High School in 1964, and attended BYU from ‘64-’67, then the University of Utah from ‘67-’69. She studied Childhood Education and taught school for most of her life, ending her career focusing on Special Needs Children.
In 1969 she met the man of her dreams, and they were married later that year on November 21, 1969. She raised her family in Granger as well as Taylorsville where she enjoyed four amazing children and a devoted husband.
She remained a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and loved sharing the gospel with everyone around her. She served numerous callings in all areas of the church. She always shared how her favorite times were spent working
with the youth and wanted all to know how much she loved the teachings of Jesus Christ. She also often attended Temple service and enjoyed it greatly.
She is survived by her husband, David William Lane of 55 years. Four children, Scott (Marla) Lane, Jodi (Mark) Barton, Jeff (Elise) Lane, and Jared (Lindsay) Lane. Six Grandkids, Samantha Jo, Jaren, Justin, Macie, Maren, and David. Her sisters, Sue (Rob)
Perkins, Patti (Bart) Barker, and brother Mark (Patty) Whittaker. Brothers and sisters-in-law, Ken (Carolyn) Lane, and Tim (Jeni) Lane. She is preceded in death by her parents.
Many thanks to her wonderful doctors and nurses at the Utah Cancer Specialists who treated and loved her for the past 2 years and 8 months. Also, many thanks to the Hospice Healthcare staff at Health Watch Home Health and Hospice for their love and care this
past week.
We will have a celebration of her life on Friday December 20th, 2024, at the Brookshire Ward House located at 1327 West 5550 South in Taylorsville, Utah. There will be a visitation from 9:30 am – 11:45 am, and a Funeral following, at 12:00 pm.
