What fond memories we have of living in Magna next door to Connie and Howard. Our children were so young and were the same ages. In fact, Derek our oldest, would disappear out of the house and the next thing I knew, Connie would call and say he was there knocking at their door wanting to play with Molly. Even though we have not kept in touch for years, once a friend of the Madsen's, always a friend. Howard will be greatly missed by many! Thoughts and prayers with you and your family.

I first met Howard at an 8th grade track meet in the Shot Put area at Bountiful High School where we were having a Jr. High Track Meet. He was from South Davis Jr. & I was from Bountiful Jr. He was a MONSTER OF A KID. 4-5'' taller than I was with arms about as big as my legs. I figured I might as well go home. We were neck to neck in distance of our puts. We got to laughing about it & started a 6 year relationship that was amazing. I did eventually grow to where I could look him in the eye.
Howard, Rob Mayfield & I were the FEARSOM THREESOM at Viewmont High School. We were self appointed with that title. We were virtually inseparable during High School. Football, wrestling & Shot Put was our thing. Bobo also did discus. I have to tell you we enjoyed each other. It was exciting to cheer Bobo on to his 2nd place State Championship in the unlimited category of wrestling. During the Basketball State Tournament we were the TOWER OF POWER stomping in front of the Student body stacked 3 high. Rob on my shoulders & both Rob & I on Bobo's shoulders. It was if Bobo danced across in front of the students with STRENGTH & ELEGANCE.. Rob on top was SHAKING the SPIRIT STICK which turned on the ROAR OF THE VIKINGS. It was not the first time we manned the SPIRIT STICK. BUT>> It was the most powerful demonstration of SCHOOL SPIRIT ever. Bobo went on to wrestle at Utah State where he place 4th BIG SKY Conference his freshman year. I remember one COLD LOGAN night when we were talking after I got off at KFC. Bobo remarked that he would LOVE a BUCKET of chicken about now. I said "WHY NOT, I'll be there in 90 minutes. Get your homework done!" I DID HE DID & it was another great evening together. Bobo was a usher at my wedding along with Rob. It was a great period of our lives!

Howard was such a great man. We were able to have a lot of memories by knowing his oldest daughter Molly and her family. Barbecues and camp trips will always be treasured. To his sweet wife and children, grand children may you feel peace knowing he is in a beautiful peaceful place. I think of him when I eat peanut M&M’s. He was very OCD with them and would sort them in colors and had to eat them evenly. So funny. Till we meet again . Pam and Jeff Macfarlane

My name is Robyn Scroggs, I am the newest member of the Administration Staff in Sunset City. Only being there since February I only got to know Mayor Madsen a short time. He is the reason I am a part of a wonderful team. He would come in my office to say hi and take a few peppermint candy's I kept in a bowl on my desk. He shared with me they were his favorites. He had a soft and wonderful sense of humor. Once in a while if I was speaking with another staff member I could see him teasing how I would use hand gestures while in conversation. It always tickled me and made me smile. I will truly miss him, and my heart goes out to his family and many friends as we mourn his passing. He will be missed.
