Dale Reynolds' Obituary
Dale Reynolds, 86, passed away at his home in Provo, Utah, on Saturday, February 13, 2021.
He was born in Escalante, Utah on August 11, 1934. Dale was one of seven sons and one daughter born to Cliff and Estella Maude Reynolds.
In 1952, he left Escalante High School to join the United States Air Force, at the age of 17. During his military service, he was stationed in England, France, California, Alaska, Colorado, Utah and Texas. He served a one year tour of duty in Vietnam. The last 10 years of his military duty was in the Air Force Recruiting Service. During this period of time he was awarded every award given for recruiting, some of them multiple times. He made the military his career and retired in 1978 after 26 years. After his military service he worked for Family First Credit Union in Orem for 15 years before truly retiring.
While stationed in Liverpool, England, he met Vivienne Cartwright. They married on March 10, 1956. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple the following year. Together they are the parents of six children.
Dale was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in several bishoprics, high councils, and many other positions over the years. He served in the Provo Temple for 20 years and valued this time and the friendships he made through this calling. He loved his Savior and was an example of service and dedication to everyone who knew him.
He had a profound love of the outdoors, especially his birth state, Utah. No one knew the backroads and dirt trails of Utah better than Dale. He and Vivienne made many, many close friends while traveling those backroads on their ATV’s. Countless hours were spent around the campfire listening to Dale share the history and facts about their destinations. He truly cherished these times and was always looking forward to his next adventure.
Dale’s love and respect for his country and those who serve it was unsurpassed. He always flew his beloved American flag at his home.
His true devotion was to his family. There was nothing he wouldn't do for each and every one of them. Dale and Vivienne have 19 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren and he made sure each of them knew that their grandpa loved them. Our hearts are broken but he leaves us with a legacy of love, service, hard work and passion for the outdoors.
He is survived by his wife, Vivienne, of almost 65 years, and their children: Linda Reynolds, Jenny Gordon (Sheldon), Craig Reynolds (Shawna), Julie Reynolds, Diane Crawley and Kristy Ogden.
He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Glade, Keith, Rhoda, Lark, Jim, Tom and Tony.
A visitation will be held Friday, February 19 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm at the Grandview Stake Center, 1650 North 1880 West Provo, Utah. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 20 at 11:00 am at the same location. Burial will follow at the Orem City Cemetery, 1520 North 800 East Orem, Utah.
